Files

The Files section allows you to share documents, reports, and other artifacts securely with clients and the platform team.

Accessing Files

  1. Navigate to your project
  2. Click the “Files” tab
  3. View all shared files and folders

Uploading Files

Methods

  • Drag and drop: Drop files directly into the file area
  • Click to upload: Click the upload button and select files
  • From chat: Share files in chat and they’ll appear in Files

Size Limits

  • Single file: 100MB maximum
  • Total per project: 2GB
  • For larger files: Contact support for alternative options

File Organization

Folders

Organize files into folders:
  • Click “New Folder” to create a folder
  • Drag files into folders
  • Use descriptive folder names (e.g., “Reports”, “Evidence”, “Drafts”)

Naming Conventions

Use clear, consistent names:
✅ Good:
- ACME_PenTest_Report_v1.0_2024-01-15.pdf
- Network_Scan_Results_192.168.1.0.csv
- Executive_Summary_Draft.docx

❌ Avoid:
- report.pdf
- scan.csv
- doc1.docx

File Permissions

Who Can See Files

RoleAccess

All participants can see all files by default. Don’t upload anything you don’t want the client to see.

Sensitive Data

When handling sensitive data:
  • Redact confidential information from reports
  • Password-protect ZIP files containing sensitive data
  • Share passwords via separate secure channel
  • Follow client’s data handling requirements

File Actions

Download

  • Click on any file to download
  • Bulk download: Select multiple files, click “Download”

Delete

  • Only you can delete files you uploaded
  • Platform ops can delete any file
  • Deleted files cannot be recovered

Version Control

For documents that change over time:
  • Include version numbers in filenames
  • Keep previous versions for reference
  • Note what changed in the new version

File Types for Security Work

Penetration Test Deliverables

Common file types:
  • PDF: Executive reports, final deliverables
  • DOCX: Draft reports for collaboration
  • CSV/XLSX: Vulnerability data, findings lists
  • XML/JSON: Tool outputs (Nmap, Burp, etc.)
  • PNG/JPG: Screenshots of findings
  • ZIP: Evidence packages, multiple files

Security Considerations

Data Protection

Only upload data relevant to the project
Redact personal data not relevant to findings
Follow client’s data handling policies
Delete local copies after project completion

Prohibited Content

Never upload:
  • Malware or active exploits
  • Personal data unrelated to findings
  • Proprietary tools without permission
  • Content violating laws or terms of service

Troubleshooting

  • Check file size is under 100MB
  • Ensure file format is supported
  • Try a different browser
  • Check internet connection
  • Ensure you’re logged in
  • Try right-click > Save As
  • Check if file was deleted
  • Contact support if persistent
